Tantasqua Wins Division I State Golf Title
In the spring of 1994, Tantasqua finished the golf season with a record of 15-1 and won the conference title. Then it was on to the Central Mass Districts. The competition was play at Holden Hills Country Club. Tantasqua won the team competition by a whopping 28 strokes! And Captain Tim Tunstall shot even par 71 to win medalist honors by 8 shots! Tim Tunstall, Jason Colangione, and Matt Drake each qualified for Individual States and were selected for the Central Mass All-star Team.

The State Finals were held at Westover Country Club in Granby. Twelve schools competed. Tim Tunstall played solid golf and led the individual competition for most of the tournament. With a two over par 74, Tim finished runner-up to James Driscoll of Brookline who birdied the eighteenth hole for a 73. As the scores were posted, a picture began to emerge: Tantasqua had a chance to win the team competition. When Tantasqua's best four scores were added together, they totalled 320. Tantasqua had won the State Championship by 8 shots! |
